Gender Affirming Care

online in ca • in-person & online in va

Gender is deeply personal.

And when your internal sense of self doesn't match what the world expects, it can feel like you’re wandering through a forest with no clear path forward—isolating and overwhelming.

Some people arrive knowing their destination but need a guide to navigate the practical and emotional terrain ahead. Others find themselves at unfamiliar crossroads, with questions they've never felt safe to voice: "Am I trans? Non-binary? Gender fluid? Or just different?"

You don’t have to wander alone.

The journey isn't always linear, and it doesn't have to follow anyone else's timeline. Whether you've known since childhood or are just beginning to question, whether you want medical transition or just social support, your experience is valid and deserving of compassionate care.

People seek gender-affirming therapy for many reasons, such as…

  • Questions about gender identity or dysphoria

  • Navigating social or work transitions

  • Family reactions and relationships

  • Understanding options for medical transition / intervention (and letters)

  • Building chosen family and community connections

  • Supporting a child or loved one's gender journey

  • Surviving—and thriving—in what’s going on today

"There is no right way to be trans.
There is only your way.”

— Janet Mock

How gender-affirming Therapy Can Help

explore your true self without pressure to be anything other than who you are.

Picture someone who celebrates each step of your discovery rather than pathologizing your journey, who sees your gender exploration as an act of courage rather than confusion.

In therapy, you'll find solid ground beneath your feet — validation for your experiences and feelings, practical support for navigating systems and relationships, strategies for managing dysphoria and building euphoria, and help communicating your needs to others.

As you gain confidence on your path, you'll develop resilience for dealing with a world that doesn't always understand, while building authentic connections with yourself and others who truly see you.

Whether you're binary or non-binary, whether you want medical interventions or not, whether you're out to everyone or just yourself — your journey is valid.

I work with people of all ages (teens through elders) and backgrounds. You don't need to prove your transness to me or meet any arbitrary standards.

My Approach

You're the expert on your own gender —
I'm here to support you.

Whether you're questioning, exploring, or already know exactly who you are, you deserve someone who celebrates your discoveries.

With over 15 years of clinical experience and specialized training in gender-affirming care, I work all gender identities — binary and non-binary, trans folks, gender-fluid/queer and agender individuals: how you define your unique gender. As a WPATH member connected with Mind The Gap (a network of gender therapists), I stay current on best practices and the challenges being thrown at the trans community today.

Your gender journey is an act of courage, not confusion.

We work together to explore what gender means for you and how to live authentically. You'll develop a stronger sense of who you are. That ever-present “gender noise” in your head? It gets quieter. Those conversations with family or employers that felt impossible? We'll practice until they feel manageable. Instead of hiding parts of yourself or feeling like you don't belong anywhere, you'll build the confidence to show up as your authentic self and create real connections.

This is how therapy works!

My clients often come to me feeling stuck, misunderstood, and disconnected from themselves and others. After our work together, they feel seen, empowered, and confident in creating authentic relationships.

  • "I guess I've always known I'm trans, but when I met my partner, I thought we were so good together we could just go on the way we were. But something changed, and now we're struggling. Body dysphoria comes up for me, then I get overwhelmed and I shut down. My partner feels bad--and I feel even worse! What can we do?"

Talking about intimacy and sex can be difficult! But it works much better when you have a 'coach/referee'/therapist to keep things calm and on track. They keep things safe, keep it focused--even "translate" when it's not quite coming through. It's a learning process: learning how to work toward understanding and manage the big feelings that come up. Partners grow to understand themselves better, and hear each other more deeply. With practice, partners gain confidence that they can create solutions that don't compromise on their needs and that respect each other: "We can get there together!"

Start living as your authentic self.

Common Question

  • Yes, I provide assessment letters following WPATH guidelines. We'll work together to ensure you're ready and have the support you need.

  • Yes. The most important source of support for a trans or gender-diverse young person is their family—especially their parents. My goal is always to work toward the best possible outcome for your child and your whole family.

Does that mean everyone in the family is going to think the same way about everything? Nope—they're not going to, and that's completely normal. That's where we work together to create understanding that allows the love to come through, even when there are different perspectives.

Remember: loving your child doesn't mean you have to have all the answers right away. It means being willing to learn, listen, and grow together.
